Privacy Policy
Vivid Walls is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe a wallpaper app has no business collecting your data.
What the app collects
Nothing. Vivid Walls does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information, usage data, analytics, telemetry, or crash reports. The app runs entirely on your Mac.
Local network access
Vivid Walls includes an optional "Import from PC" feature that uses your local network to discover and download wallpapers from the Vivid Walls Companion app running on your Windows PC. This communication:
- Happens only over your local network (LAN)
- Is initiated by you, not automatically
- Never leaves your home network
- Is not logged, tracked, or transmitted to us
The Companion app on Windows auto-shuts down after 30 minutes of inactivity. All wallpaper transfers happen directly between your Mac and your PC on the same local network.
Audio access
Vivid Walls may ask for permission to capture system audio for audio-reactive wallpapers that respond to whatever your Mac is playing. On macOS 14.0 and 14.1 that request appears as Screen Recording, because that is how those versions expose system audio capture. The app never uses the microphone. This is entirely optional. Audio data is processed locally in real time to drive visual effects and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted anywhere.
Wallpaper files
Wallpaper files you import remain on your Mac in the app's sandboxed container. We do not upload, scan, or analyze your wallpaper library. All file access is sandboxed per Apple's App Sandbox requirements.
Third parties
Vivid Walls does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no SDKs from Google, Facebook, or any other company embedded in the app.
What this website collects
Everything above is about the app, which collects nothing. This website is a separate thing and it does record a little, so here is the whole list:
- Page views, through Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not set a cookie, and this site sets no cookies of any kind.
- Ordinary server request logs, kept by our host the way every web server keeps them: the page requested, an IP address, a country, a browser type.
- How many people tap the Mac App Store link on each page. That is a plain request to our own server carrying only the name of the page it came from. No identifier is attached and nothing is stored about you, we just count them, so that we can tell which pages are worth writing.
None of this is sold, shared, or connected to your email address, and none of it happens inside the app.
The email list
This website offers an optional email list for new wallpapers and version announcements. It is the only place we ask you for personal information, and only if you type it in yourself.
- We store your email address, the date you signed up, the page you signed up from, and the country your request came from. We do not store your IP address.
- We use it for one thing: occasional emails about new wallpapers and new versions of the app. Never for advertising, never sold, never shared.
- You can leave at any time on the unsubscribe page, with no confirmation step. Unsubscribed addresses are kept only as a do-not-contact record so we do not mail you again by accident.
- To have your address deleted outright rather than suppressed, email support@vividwalls.app and we will remove it.
Children
Vivid Walls is rated 4+ and is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If we ever change this policy, we will update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the app.
